What is a Patient Care Technician (PCT)?
A Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a healthcare professional who works closely with nurses and medical staff to provide hands-on care for patients. PCTs assist with everyday patient needs while helping monitor patient conditions and supporting overall comfort and safety. Their role is important in helping healthcare facilities deliver efficient and attentive care.
Patient Care Technicians commonly work in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, clinics, and long-term care facilities. Responsibilities can include assisting patients with mobility, checking vital signs, collecting specimens, supporting personal care routines, and helping patients during daily activities. At Nursing Detroit, students gain practical training that reflects the responsibilities they will encounter in real healthcare settings.
